Backend Engineer, Python

Build and harden the real backend systems behind our audit engine, plan enforcement, and integrations — the systems that have to be correct the first time.

About this role

You will work on the core FastAPI backend that powers CMO Owls: real quota enforcement, real Stripe billing, real integrations with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and a dozen publishing platforms. This is a role for someone who enjoys building systems that have to be correct the first time, since real customer data and real money move through them every day.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend endpoints across the product, from content generation to billing
• Design clean, well-tested REST APIs consumed by our React dashboard and public marketing site
• Own database schema design and migrations in PostgreSQL via SQLAlchemy
• Build and maintain OAuth integrations with Google, LinkedIn, and CMS platforms
• Write real, deterministic tests for anything touching billing, quota, or customer data
• Debug production issues directly, from a stack trace to a shipped fix

What we are looking for

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Strong Python, with real production experience in FastAPI, Django, or Flask
• Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and an ORM (SQLAlchemy, Django ORM, or similar)
• Experience designing and securing REST APIs, including auth and rate limiting
• Comfort owning a service from local development through production deployment

Nice to have

• Experience with Stripe or another real payments API
• Experience with OAuth integrations against third-party platforms
• Familiarity with nginx, PM2, or similar production deployment tooling
