Generative Engine Owl: a GEO audit that asks the AI engines directly
Can AI reach your site, understand it and quote it correctly? And what do ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google's AI Overviews actually say about your space right now? One audit answers both.
Engines in every audit

- GeminiOfficial access or browser fallback

- Google AI OverviewsWhen a live search shows one
- Google AI ModeCheck by hand

Four questions every GEO audit answers
Generative engine optimization starts with access and ends with measurement. The audit covers each step in order.
1 · Reach
Can AI crawlers get in?
Robots rules and access for the crawlers AI products use. Quick check anytime with the AI crawler access test.
2 · Understand
Is it clear who you are?
How consistently your organisation, products and key ideas are defined, in visible text and in structured data, including links to your official profiles.
3 · Quote
Can it lift your answers?
AI citation readiness: facts that stand alone, claims next to their sources, plain definitions and structured answers.
4 · Measure
What does AI say today?
Real questions asked of real engines, with what came back reported as it was.
Measured AI mentions, not imagined ones
The audit records what AI engines actually answered, and it is strict about what it can't see.
- Real queries. ChatGPT and Gemini are asked through their official access where available, or their own web apps as a fallback. Claude answers directly. Google AI Overviews are reported when a live search actually shows one.
- Honest failures. If an engine can't be reached during the run, the audit names the engine and the reason instead of filling in a likely answer.
- Named gaps. Google AI Mode, Copilot and Perplexity have no reliable way in, so they're listed as needing a manual check in their own apps.
AI citation readiness, in practice
The pages AI quotes tend to have four things in common. The audit checks your pages for each.
- A fact that stands alone. One sentence that still makes sense when copied out of the page.
- The claim and its source together. A number next to where it came from, not three paragraphs away.
- A plain definition. The term, then what it means, near the top.
- A structured answer. Steps, a short table or a clear list where the question calls for one.
What you see after the audit
Results open in the AI Search Visibility tab of your dashboard, beside the search results from Owl-gorithm Hacker.
Next steps are ordered by impact. The full report downloads as Markdown, PDF or Excel. For quick single checks between audits, the schema checker and robots.txt generator cover two of the four questions.

GEO audit questions
What does a GEO audit check?
Whether AI systems can reach your site, understand what you are, and quote you accurately, plus how AI engines actually answer questions in your space today. It also compares your setup with competitors to explain why they might be cited instead of you.
Which AI engines are tested?
ChatGPT and Gemini, through their official access or a browser fallback, Claude, and Google AI Overviews when a live search shows one. Google AI Mode, Copilot and Perplexity can't be queried reliably from here, so they're marked as needing a manual check rather than guessed.
What if an engine can't be reached during the audit?
The audit says so for that engine and why. It never fills the gap with what the engine would probably have said.
What is AI citation readiness?
How easy your pages are for an AI system to quote correctly: clear facts it can lift, claims paired with their sources, plain definitions, and answers laid out in a structured way.
Does it fix the problems it finds?
It reports them with recommended next steps. Brand-question articles from Buzz Creator Owl and comparison pages from Growth Hacker are the agents that act on the content side.
Can I share the results?
Yes. The full audit report downloads as Markdown, PDF or Excel.
