X Owl, the X thread writer that researches first and counts every word
Give X Owl a topic. It reads up on it across the live web, then writes a six-part thread where every part has a job and a word limit, checked before you see it.
- 1/Hook20 to 45 words
- 2/Problem16 to 40 words
- 3/Reframe16 to 40 words
- 4/Mechanism16 to 40 words
- 5/Nuance16 to 40 words
- 6/Payoff16 to 40 words
Research comes before the hook
X Owl looks the topic up on the live web before drafting, so the thread can mention what's current instead of what a model remembers.
You can type any topic, or start from the X ideas in your content roadmap. The research and the first draft happen in one pass; a second, separate step then pulls the draft into the six fixed parts. That split is what lets X Owl guarantee the structure rather than hoping the model follows it.
Six parts, six word budgets
Every Twitter thread X Owl writes follows the same arc. The limits keep each part to one idea.
| Part | Words | Its job |
|---|---|---|
| 1/ Hook | 20 to 45 | Stops the scroll with the claim or tension the thread resolves. |
| 2/ Problem | 16 to 40 | Names what's going wrong for the reader, in their terms. |
| 3/ Reframe | 16 to 40 | Turns the problem around so the usual advice stops looking obvious. |
| 4/ Mechanism | 16 to 40 | Explains why it works, the part people screenshot. |
| 5/ Nuance | 16 to 40 | Adds the exception or condition that makes it trustworthy. |
| 6/ Payoff | 16 to 40 | Lands the takeaway the reader can act on today. |
Checked twice before it reaches you
Two separate checks, both written as plain rules.
Structure. Each part is counted against its range. If one misses, X Owl rewrites the draft once on its own. If it still misses, the run stops and says so.
Readability. Each numbered part must fit X's 280-character limit, the opening is screened for tired starts and for giving its own answer away, the last line is checked for hedging, and hype words are flagged.
Every draft ends with one result
- Pass nothing tripped
- Needs review worth a second look
- Fail a rule caught a real problem
Whatever the result, the reasons are listed beside the draft.
Putting the thread on X
Two ways, and it's worth knowing the difference.
Post it as a thread
Copy the six numbered parts and post them as a thread on X, each part replying to the one before. This is the way to keep the thread format.
Send it from the dashboard
With your X account connected on the integrations page, one click sends the draft. It goes out as a single post containing all six parts, so your account needs to allow long posts. A sent draft is recorded and can't be sent twice.
X Owl drafts are text only. The words are written by an AI model; the structure, limits and checks are fixed rules.

X Owl FAQ
Does X Owl write threads or single posts?
Threads: six numbered parts that run from a hook to a payoff. Each part has its own word range, so the thread reads tight from top to bottom.
Where do the ideas come from?
From a topic you type, or from the X ideas suggested in your content roadmap. Either way, X Owl researches the topic on the live web before it drafts.
What if a part comes out too long or too short?
X Owl checks every part against its word range. If any part misses, it corrects the draft once automatically; if it still misses, the run stops and tells you, rather than handing you a lopsided thread.
How do I post it as a thread on X?
Copy the six numbered parts and post them as a thread, each part replying to the one before. The dashboard can also send the draft to your connected X account, but it sends the whole thread as a single post, which needs an account that can publish long posts.
Does it add images?
No. X Owl drafts are text only, so you can add your own screenshot or chart where it helps.
Can it post the same draft twice by accident?
No. Once a draft has been sent to your X account, the dashboard records the post and won't send it again.
